London gets on it bike… but not in these pretty-small-shoes! 

Today saw the launch of the London bike scheme where, like Paris, Bracelona and Montreal, Londoners are being encouraged to jump on a bike and embrace peddle power. Now, this is all very well and good if you are 1. That way inclined. 2. Quite well off. 3. Not wearing shockingly beautiful but high heeled shoes. 

The deal is £1 for a 30-minute ride, which I think is a bit much but you can make as many 30-minute journeys as you like, which seems silly. You might as well just keep it for the day, or you are going to have to ride and then stop. Pick up another bike. Ride and then stop again. What’s the point in that? And, what if you’re next bike station is more than 30 minutes away? Silly Boris. 

Apparently, they weigh a ton which is also a bit of a put-off! Just think if you’re walking along, going out, or going to work in pretty shoes such as Emma (a patent Mary-Jane perfect for work, if I do say so myself) there’s no way you’re going to think ‘Oh, I’ll just pop on that nice looking bike and get to work’. 

What you’d need to do is to be prepared and wear something like the small size flat shoes Champion. These gorgeous loafers with blue ribbon detail will not only be practical but make you look ultra-chic and cool.

 And of course, not clash with the hideous blue tarmac – thank you Barclay’s but I think we could have lived with the grey! When we are all trying to be frugal there they are digging up nice grey tarmac and laying hideous blue tarmac instead. What a waste of money! 

Any way, sorry back to the point of the blog, which is that I’m all for the bikes if one is in the right atire. 

So, if you’re in trendy East London you’d need something like Sanctuary, petite size open-toed espadrilles with perforated leather.

Or, Air flats with a pretty dress, so totally East London. And if your West, it’s got to be the aptly named Up Town Girl. Uber trendy leather sandals. And of course, I don’t want to leave out those in the leafy ‘burbs so for them it’s got to be the ultimate flat, small size Pretty Ballerina,

Everyone loves a Ballerina flat and nowhere does it look better than a on petite-chic Miss peddling a push-bike. 

So go my little ones, if you have a bike or can rent one, go, do it now!!! If we all take to two wheels there will be less four wheels and that can only be a good thing!

So, as you know the SBO and I have recently got engaged so we threw a bit of a party to get some friends together, as you do.

I can’t tell you where she got her shoes, coz she’s got big feet (in comparison) so that piece of information is pretty much null and void for us. 

We had a great time dancing the night away and were catching admiring glances at our shoes from all our lady guests – all of whom were very envious that they didn’t have such lovely petite feet and join our ‘little club’, as it were. 

But, it seems that women with petite feet are more attractive to the opposite sex. An article from the NewScientist Magazine states that psychologists from Albany University have discovered that men were three-and-a-half times more likely to find a picture of a woman, morphed from short measurements across the body, with particularly small feet more attractive than a picture of a woman morphed from longer measurements across the body. 

This all seems rather circumstantial once you’ve seen the pictures (which is only a head and shoulders shot of each morph) and the clarity ‘longer’ measurement picture isn’t too great. So, even from a non-scientific background I wouldn’t hold this discovery against Newton’s discovery of relativity… 

But, as a young woman with small feet, I can honestly say, we are the fairer of our own sex. Especially when we have our amazing pretty small shoes on!

Hello ladies, can you believe its Friday again already?! I can’t believe where the time is going at the moment, it certainly is flying by.

And its that time of the season where the sales start, and Pretty-Small-Shoes are no different – woo hoo!

With my summer holiday coming up shortly I’m certainly going to check out what’s available in my size and be choosing a couple of pairs (at that price it should be illegal not to buy them!) 

But, if you do want to buy a pair I must suggest you hurry and buy them tout suite. Some styles are only available in certain sizes and most scarily, there could be only one pair per style for some – so don’t hang around if you want to grab a bargain! 

And, there are some really pretty styles available. The sparkly-glittertastic, Cindrella in open and closed toe options, Cee Cee, the ever so pretty open-toe ruffle shoe boots, and the outrageously bright, but oh-so pretty pretty, Becka. 

Come one ladies what are you waiting for? And you know, if you needed any more encouragement, it’s true that men really do prefer women with small feet –it’s scientifically proven! And if you really needed any more reason to say ‘Coz I’m worth it’ now the men in your life can’t disagree! I walked my pretty small feet into the ground because there was just so much to see and do – and its so pretty, and of course, romantic!

And these were the shoes that I was wearing, at midnight under the Effiel Tower when the pretty light show started and… I was asked to become Mrs SBO!! So, if Paris can inspire the SBO to pop the question, it really must be the most romantic city in the world.

And, as I have previously mentioned, the Parisian ladies, and men come to think of it, really are very chic (you can also see proof of this on thesartorialist.blogspot.com) – but when wearing my gorgeous petite shoes, the SBO and I both noticed, that I was getting a lot, a lot, of admiring glances in their direction. It goes to show the Parisian’s really do have exceptionally good taste!

So, the summer is in full swing. How can one tell? Wimbledon has started, the World Cup is on and Goodwood Festival of Speed is nearly upon us and of course, finally its so hot here everyone is moaning! Perfect.

This year certainly seems to be a summer of firsts – the first time Italy and France have been knocked out in the first round of the World Cup (to my memory at least), the first time the Queen has been to Wimbledon in 33 years (or in my lifetime!) and the first time I have tickets to Goodwood!!

Now, if you are lucky enough to have tickets to Wimbledon, or Goodwood you will need your little feet suitably attired. With the Queen having been to Wimbledon this year, nothing short of amazing will do, and so, I suggest Music. These are the perfect Wimbledon small shoe, to go with your strawberries and cream, and of course a glass of perfectly chilled champagne. In pink or purple leather, the soft colours with the gold heel (and not too high) are the best petite shoe to be seen in on Centre Court – please just don’t distract Murray. He really must win this year!

For Goodwood on the other hand, one must remember one will be walking round on one’s little feet all day admiring the classic cars. So one does need 100% comfort and heels are not such a good idea as I can imagine lots of sinking in the grass taking place. And, one doesn’t want to be seen with muddy heels, does one? No. Exactly.

To avoid the sinking issues I suggest Marine – Girl to be the perfect petite sandals for Goodwood. Not only are they bang-on-trend (go Gok!), they are comfortable and needless to say, so cute! The leather sandals with striped button and anchor detail will see you sail through the day (sorry – I couldn’t help it, you know I like rhyme or pun from time to time) in total comfort and style!

Of course, you will have plenty of summer events to attend, you social bunnies, you. So how about a pair of Soul Sister’s? These great summer sandals come in a range of heel heights and colours. Gold, silver, orange and black in 7 or 9cm heel all of which means whatever your event, whichever heel height you need, chances are Soul Sister will be the perfect petite shoe for you.

So, another Bank Holiday has come and gone. I can’t believe we are now in June! It seems ridiculous as I’m sure we were only in the depths of winter not 5 minutes ago, and now we are all cowering in the shade, moaning its too hot already. How typically English.

This year I’m trying to make the most of my Bank Holiday’s. For the May Day Bank Holiday the SBO and I were on our exceptionally romantic Paris trip (pics and more details to follow in a few weeks or so) and for this one I was in Estonia. But I wasn’t the only one away this time, Jen, Pretty Small Shoe-r extra-ordinaire was also away.

Estonia is not the first place one thinks of to spend their Bank Holiday weekend, but I was on a Hen do and the Hen has family there – which, of course, makes it the perfect place to go. They took us to all the best bars (and they were good!), recommended all the best restaurants (also very good) and basically showed us around their very beautiful, but a bit chilly, city. Here is a picture of me in my Whispers my favourite small size ladies boots , with a very good friend of mine, in the last club we went to.

When we came out it was 4am in the morning and bright daylight! I was so surprised I totally forgot there were cobbles under the red carpet (swish right?) and toppled from my favourite gorgeous petite shoes boots straight onto my bum! I was quite grateful to be sat down so I was there until a bouncer came and picked me up and righted me again!

Jen, on the other hand, had a much more relaxing, chilled out weekend in Mallorca. With it being a damn site warmer in Spain Jen and her holiday party were able to swim in the sea, sit in the sun and drink cocktails until there hearts content. Here’s a picture of Jen, and of course, she is wearing a pair of pretty-small-shoes. Jen is wearing the oh-so comfy Speedwell petite size wedges, which make her a good couple of extra inches taller which means she can finally wear this season’s key dress – the maxi! And I think we’ll all agree she looks every bit the summer goddess.

Am I jealous that Jen spent her Bank Holiday on a gorgeous Spanish island while I was freezing in northern Europe… maybe just bit but then again, I can’t tell you what happened on the hen, can I? ;D

Fabulous Winners of Latest Pretty-Small-Shoes Competition

It never ceases to amaze me the standard of some of the pictures that get sent in by you, our fabulous, fabulous customers when we run these competitions. And our first winner (although I must stressed I’m announcing these in no particular order) is no exception to this.

Nicole Wong, from London, looks every inch the professional in these amazing pictures. They look like they’ve come straight out a high fashion editorial spread a-la Vogue! She’s pictured here in, one this season’s personal fav’s, Holiday (in beige pink). I’m totalling loving the fact that Nicole is wearing them with socks. This is a great step forward for fashion that open toed shoes no longer have to be limited to bare feet (although I know this has been around much longer than on the catwalks). Nicole is so fashion forward I’m jealous! And will definitely be following in her footsteps this very weekend!

Now our second winner, Hannah from Essex – and no jokes please as I am also from Essex, and as you can see the stereotypes are not true! – is rocking two very major trends in this picture. Her dress looks floral but is an abstract print. Amazing. But of course the pièce de résistance of her outfit is her camel-tan killer stiletto’s. They are nicely picking out the tan in her dress and adding to the lovely silhouette it is giving her.  The killer stiletto is the perfect petite shoe and perfect finishing touch to an amazing summer outfit. I hope wherever you were off to Hannah, they appreciated the bundle of gorgeousness you were when this picture was taken.

Moving on to our final international winner of the top prize of a £50 PSS voucher, Trine from Denmark. In this picture Trine proves that you can wear up to the minute, trendy shoes like Senshoe-al, which she is modelling to perfection here, and make them look like timeless classics that have been around for years. A few years back I would never have thought I would ever platforms again (yes, I was there when they made a comeback in the early ’90′s, oh the shame) but Trine wears them so effortlessly and makes them look so gorgeous in her belted monochromatic outfit that its almost impossible to resist not buying a pair immediately. The sunshine and the gorgeously relaxed look she is rocking also helps.

Super Chic and Cute Small Size Mary Jane Flats

(and I honestly don’t know where this rhyming comes from sometimes!)

And, if I’d been clever and thought about it in advance these gorgeous petite pumps would have been perfect for my trip across the Channel! Tik-Tok are very Parisian. I can just imagine all the chic French ladies with their sharp bobs and chic outfits, running around in these.

Also, now we’re in this weird, its cold in the morning, warm in the afternoon stage of the year I suggest in investing in some perfectly fitting brightly coloured petite tights or small size leggings. Tights to keep you warm in the AM but bright to keep that summer-is-on-the-way feel. Check out the ‘colourific’ tights that come in 20 (!) different colours so you’re bound to find a pair that will go with your chosen outfit.

So, I’m going to love you and leave you now to continue galavanting round Paris – enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend, if you have one!!

With temperatures set to reach 21 degrees over the weekend its not going to be the greatest climate in which to run the London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday (although, of course this being England rain is now forecast too).

But, even if you are not running the marathon – and I’m most certainly not – there is one thing you  most definitely will be aiming to do… wear a pair of my pretty small open toe shoes. But, just like the marathon, a lot of preparation is crucial beforehand.

Now, ladies, this is critical before putting on open toed shoes, sandals or flip-flops. Your feet must be manicured – within an inch of their lives! They must be in perfect condition. Not a chip or piece of dry skin in sight. I’m not one of those people who has a weird foot phobia (thank god) but I do understand that there is nothing worse than an yucky foot in a beautiful pretty small shoe.

Its also vital that one’s nail varnish matches one shoe. So, under no circumstances, for example, must yellow nail varnish be worn with a shoe such as Jungle Boogie. Red, or black, yes… but yellow? Nu-uh. Don’t get me wrong, contrasting colours are great – I’m going to love wearing my Sweethearts with bright pink or red nail varnish – but clashing colours are a definite no-go area.

Here’s a few examples of some great sandals and the nail varnish I would suggest best to go with them:

With Icon Ivory you can use any of the pastel palette that is currently ‘du jour’!

One last tip from me is… also ensure that whatever your colour your contrast varnish is, it must also be within your outfit! That is the ultimate in co-ordination. You may think that it’s a step too far. I, on the other hand, think its very height of chic, and the men appreciate it too ;D
