It’s Carnival Time
by LO
August Bank Holiday means one thing and one thing only… Car-ni-val!! The Notting Hill carnival is celebrating is 45th birthday this year and is the second largest carnival of the year, coming second only to Rio.
I’m going to have to admit that, although this is my first year living in London, I’ve been coming to London for work on a daily basis and for shopping for years and I’ve never actually been to the Carnival. How awful is that? So, this year, we’re going to check it out.
I have only one reservation about the event though. No, its not alleged violence, or pick pocketing, or lack of loo roll (imagine 2 million people using the same toilets in such a small area – oh dear). No, it’s the fact that chances are I’m going to get trampled on – a lot!
Being 5” people don’t tend to see you – at all. People walk straight in to me, half the time not even noticing they’ve done it. Elbows are also a big problem. How I’ve never had a black eye I’ll never know. But, at carnival I think my tiny, small feet are going to get smooshed. There is no way on this earth I’m not wearing any of my lovely, size one shoes as they will not survive the day.
Now, I know I’m moaning and I’m not even there yet, but at least I’m not going to be in the carnival. Can imagine how painful all those beautiful dancers feet will be once they’ve been dancing for 8 hours!? Ouch!
They should wear these gorgeous glad’s from www.pretty-small-shoes.com as they are comfy but they have bling to keep with the carnival zing!! Sorry, I know that’s terrible but I do have a thing for rhyming. Sometimes I just can’t help myself! But bring on the Carnival and lets dance away the Bank Holiday!
