Very pretty small shoes needed for all weather conditions!!

by LO

Well, first and foremost I have to say – ‘Happy New Year’ ladies who have petite! I hope Father Christmas bought you all you wanted/needed and you saw the New Year, 2010, in fantastically!

So, I don’t know if anyone saw the front page of The Times this morning but England has never seen such full coverage of snow – ever! ‘Ever’ might be a little bit of an exaggeration but uniform blanket coverage, like what we currently have, is a very rare thing.  Personally, and I don’t want to fuel the panic buying as I don’t think it helps anyone, I do think if the snow and ice continues for all of next week as forecast, we are, as a country, going to run out of milk. I hope everyone doesn’t mind UHT in their tea!

As the snow had started pre-Christmas I had hoped, as I always do, that it might have snowed on Christmas day so we could have had a white Christmas but it was not to be… maybe next year? Fingers and tiny toes crossed for that one.

Back to today… I’m guessing wherever you are right now, you have snow. Unless of course you’re somewhere fantastically hot like Australia who are currently having a heat wave (oh, if only – and I’m dead jealous coz a friend is flying out tomorrow), or Thailand, where I was in Feb last year when it snowed (prefect timing for that holiday or what!?) So, thinking of the total opposites of conditions following are my suggestions for the best footwear this side of 2010!

For those of you in warmer climes I’ll start with you… 2010 is still going to be huge for the cut-out shoe as I like to call it. Petite feet rock this look best coz, I think, everything looks better smaller! Cut-outs, ankle straps, open toes you name it, it all goes. And, for this particular style I have to direct you to the Dante. The Nine and a Half always works perfectly for this trend too and also encompasses velvet which will continue to be the material of the moment.

OK, so back to the harsh cold reality we are facing here in the UK. Now, I know a lot of people don’t head out on the first Sat night in Jan coz everyone’s still skint from Christmas and this weather is a major put off. But, at the same time I know there will be a hard core massive heading out for a good time for the rest of us. Knowing that the pavements are more dangerous than the roads at the moment (coz no one’s gritting the pavements – thanks for that!) here is what I suggest: French Punk. The rubber heavy duty souls will keep you grounded (I’ve been wearing my calf length Rebels and not hit the deck once yet – phew!) but the open toe will say ‘party time’!

And if you’re not going out partying but just braving the elements to get some food (please just remember to leave some for the rest of us) I suggest my favourite – Rebel. I’ve had mine for ages and they are great for this type of weather. I haven’t fallen or had cold feet once. That’s saying something and you can’t ask for more than that in super cool, super petite boot. And with the calf length you can wear them with leg warmers (slouching from your knee down to the top of the boot) for that extra bit of insulation.

Keep walm or cool wherever you are!! Speak to you next week, LO x
