London gets on it bike… but not in these pretty-small-shoes! 

Today saw the launch of the London bike scheme where, like Paris, Bracelona and Montreal, Londoners are being encouraged to jump on a bike and embrace peddle power. Now, this is all very well and good if you are 1. That way inclined. 2. Quite well off. 3. Not wearing shockingly beautiful but high heeled shoes. 

The deal is £1 for a 30-minute ride, which I think is a bit much but you can make as many 30-minute journeys as you like, which seems silly. You might as well just keep it for the day, or you are going to have to ride and then stop. Pick up another bike. Ride and then stop again. What’s the point in that? And, what if you’re next bike station is more than 30 minutes away? Silly Boris. 

Apparently, they weigh a ton which is also a bit of a put-off! Just think if you’re walking along, going out, or going to work in pretty shoes such as Emma (a patent Mary-Jane perfect for work, if I do say so myself) there’s no way you’re going to think ‘Oh, I’ll just pop on that nice looking bike and get to work’. 

What you’d need to do is to be prepared and wear something like the small size flat shoes Champion. These gorgeous loafers with blue ribbon detail will not only be practical but make you look ultra-chic and cool.

 And of course, not clash with the hideous blue tarmac – thank you Barclay’s but I think we could have lived with the grey! When we are all trying to be frugal there they are digging up nice grey tarmac and laying hideous blue tarmac instead. What a waste of money! 

Any way, sorry back to the point of the blog, which is that I’m all for the bikes if one is in the right atire. 

So, if you’re in trendy East London you’d need something like Sanctuary, petite size open-toed espadrilles with perforated leather.

Or, Air flats with a pretty dress, so totally East London. And if your West, it’s got to be the aptly named Up Town Girl. Uber trendy leather sandals. And of course, I don’t want to leave out those in the leafy ‘burbs so for them it’s got to be the ultimate flat, small size Pretty Ballerina,

Everyone loves a Ballerina flat and nowhere does it look better than a on petite-chic Miss peddling a push-bike. 

So go my little ones, if you have a bike or can rent one, go, do it now!!! If we all take to two wheels there will be less four wheels and that can only be a good thing!
