With temperatures set to reach 21 degrees over the weekend its not going to be the greatest climate in which to run the London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday (although, of course this being England rain is now forecast too).

But, even if you are not running the marathon – and I’m most certainly not – there is one thing you  most definitely will be aiming to do… wear a pair of my pretty small open toe shoes. But, just like the marathon, a lot of preparation is crucial beforehand.

Now, ladies, this is critical before putting on open toed shoes, sandals or flip-flops. Your feet must be manicured – within an inch of their lives! They must be in perfect condition. Not a chip or piece of dry skin in sight. I’m not one of those people who has a weird foot phobia (thank god) but I do understand that there is nothing worse than an yucky foot in a beautiful pretty small shoe.

Its also vital that one’s nail varnish matches one shoe. So, under no circumstances, for example, must yellow nail varnish be worn with a shoe such as Jungle Boogie. Red, or black, yes… but yellow? Nu-uh. Don’t get me wrong, contrasting colours are great – I’m going to love wearing my Sweethearts with bright pink or red nail varnish – but clashing colours are a definite no-go area.

Here’s a few examples of some great sandals and the nail varnish I would suggest best to go with them:

One last tip from me is… also ensure that whatever your colour your contrast varnish is, it must also be within your outfit! That is the ultimate in co-ordination. You may think that it’s a step too far. I, on the other hand, think its very height of chic, and the men appreciate it too ;D

Now Easter is out of the way we have two more Bank Holidays coming up to look forward to. And, because of the kind person I am, I’m giving you a heads up so you can order your petite shoes in time to look fabulous for the entire weekend! I really am too good to you.

Now, we can’t get too carried away as it is still April hence why my first choice of shoe is black. Black open toes are great because they are perfect for warm but not sunny days. Huntress are petite, open toe shoe boots which will look great and professional in the office with denim (if you have a relaxed office, or dress down day), or smartened up with city shorts.

Again, I’ve not run too away with the fact that the sun has finally come out with the perfect small shoe Poseur. A black sandal with gold sole and heal which certainly says ‘the sun is on its way’ – and will have all your friends glowering with envy. Such a gorgeous petite shoe for this gorgeous time of year.

For those who prefer flats Look Sharp are the way to go.  In pink, black, silver and red these flat open toed numbers will go with anything. If you really are in the bright and breezy mood, pink or silver are for you. If nautical is your theme for this year, it has to be the red! And I have said time and again, I love petite red shoes!

The May Day bank holiday is just over a fortnight away which gives you just enough time to order your choice of pretty small size shoe through Jiyeon. I wouldn’t hang around if I were you!

Can you believe its Easter already? Where has the beginning of this year gone already? Not that I’m complaining coz it means we’ve got two 4 day weeks coming up! Yay!

If you do need / want / have to go to church on Sunday I think the pretty small shoes like ‘Bona’ in lilac, either in the flats or with a heel, would be just the pair. Like the perfect Easter shoe, they are not too high and with the detachable corsage/ruffle you the choice to have a little fun with your footwear. Or, alternatively you could pin it to your coat to look really smart and cute with matching accessories.

And lastly, if you are actually planning on spending most of the weekend in the bar and need a pair of shoes to take you through the day to night I would suggest small size mid heel ‘Melissa’ in glossy leopard in, perhaps, the 4cm. This way again, they are not too high for the day and not flat for the evening, but the glossy leopard print adds a gam, sexy element to your outfit.   

So, the ‘Kova’, ‘Bona’ and the ‘Melissa’ (and I really didn’t mean for them to all end in ‘a’) are the perfect Easter shoe for whatever you have planned.

Ladies (and any gents that read this out there) I don’t know what you were up to last weekend but if you were in London’s Leicester Square then you probably would have seen the PSS family out on the town!

What better reason to hit the town than for a birthday. And we weren’t just celebrating anyone’s b’day. Oh no. It was the PSS first lady herself, Jiyeon.

Jiyeon, Jen and I put on our glad rags and painted the town red… well, black really as we all had on our most trusted pair of dancing pretty-small-shoes which all happened to be black.

Once we’d been fed and watered there was no stopping us on the dance-floor. We cut shapes – can you say ‘cut shapes’ any more?? – like there was no tomorrow. We were joined by our other halves, and close friends of those with little feet. They couldn’t keep up with us on the dance floor but they did drink us under the table! What can I say, us little one’s can’t handle our drink… well, I can’t!

And we didn’t really drink that much. Oh dear.

I, on the other hand, was not that clever and had to look on in envy. I had to totter behind the SBO for the night bus in my Whispers. And, very well I did  considering he (my BF) was stomping along at a rate of knots! But next time, I’m def bringing flats for the way home…

At the beginning of the 10th Century the Chinese decided it would be a good idea to bind their women’s feet. There are a few theories as to where and why this painful practice was started but all we really need to know for the purpose of this blog is – OUCH!

At first it was only the elite who had their feet bound as it was a sign of their freedom and wealth then later became wholly indiscriminate. Could you imagine trying to work with broken, bound feet??

Thankfully this is not something that is practiced any more, because I think the most frightening aspect of this is that the women’s feet, once bound, would not measure any longer than 3 inches.

Of course, the irony of this is I’m writing about it on a website for women with small feet, thankfully naturally blessed so.

But, I think I can say, although we have small feet, they are not that small!

Can you believe it? Spring hasn’t even started here yet (its still bitterly cold in the UK for March) so let us not look any further than the here and the now. I wasn’t at work yesterday because I was treated to tea at  The Wolseley – how lucky am I? Taking inspiration from the girls who won the competition last week, here is my attempt at being glamourous and showing off my pretty-small-shoes. So here are the 3 winners of last weeks photo competition!

Maya, from the Netherlands, is a proffesional petite model, which you can totally tell from the oh-so proffesional picture - and amazing figure!   Oh, if only… collective sigh after 3 ladies… 1, 2, 3 – ‘sigh’.

Oh My God! Pretty Small Shoes are now moving to design shoes that are funkier than than the ones made for `normal` women!

After a lifetime of depression and shoe envy we pretty small feet ladies can now claim funky fashion exclusivity. No sooner had I checked my positive bank balance, I received an email from Jiyeon with these outrageously fantastic little boots!

This time last week I was exceptionally excited… OK, I know I’m quite excitable any way but this time it really was for good reason. And here’s why: the week before last the Slightly Bigger One and I had been invited out but due to the snow (bore!) it was cancelled and postponed to last week. This meant I had been waiting three whole weeks for the event and the suspense was killing me! Finally, I can’t believe its come around – and I get to tell you all about it!

So, the SBO and I dash home from work to spruce ourselves up (I tried, and failed miserably) and left in a bit of a rush to get to Golders Green. I can hear you all say, what’s in Golders Green to get excited about apart from perhaps Salt Beef and Chopped Liver?? Well my friends, Golders Green is now the home of the… www.pretty-small-shoes.com showroom!! Yes, can you believe it?? You can now visit a showroom to try on all your favourite small shoes, LuLu, Bow Wow and Cinderella, that you’ve seen online! How great is that??

And not only is it just a showroom. Oh, no! This place is awesome. There is a distressed wood platform area where all the shoes are displayed, which is of course the very height of chic.
